Daily washing

When the baby's skin is fully developed, it may be time for daily washing. Wait for signs that the baby is ready and plan an appropriate time with the staff.

Make sure there are always at least two people around the baby when it is being washed so that the baby receives the support it needs. Sometimes the washing process may need to be divided up into stages, for example one side at a time.

Get a wash bowl, face cloths/swabs, baby wash/baby oil, towel and a diaper. Start washing the baby from the top and work your way down. Wash all the baby's skin folds (ears, neck, armpits and groin). Be sure to dry the baby properly, paying attention to skin folds.
